About this event
Stepping Out is a heart-warming British comedy about a group of enthusiastic amateur tap dancers, who every week escape their daily lives by taking a tap dancing class in a dingy London church hall.
There’s cheerfully overweight Sylvia; Andy, a do-gooder with no confidence and a sad secret; snobby but well-meaning Vera; timid Dorothy; shrewd businesswoman Maxine; student nurse Lynne; Rose, who is just there for a good time, and widower Geoffrey, the lone male.
With the help of grumpy pianist Mrs Fraser, their teacher Mavis, a former professional dancer, is determined to get her pupils to become top tappers so they can show off their talents in a public performance. Their spirits are willing – but their feet – that’s another story!
The journey of these tentative amateurs to a confident troupe proud to take to the stage will gladden your heart – you’ll be tapping along with them!
This amateur production of Stepping Out is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd on behalf of Samuel French Ltd www.concordtheatricals.co.uk
