Lackford comes alive when everyone else goes to bed! Join us as it gets dark for:
Bat Detectors: What bats can you find? Join a member of our team who will guide you through how to use a bat detector and help identify what bats can be found flying around us (from 9pm)
Moth Trapping: Let's catch some moths! Come and have a look at our moth traps in action and see what moths we find. Have a go at identifying these with a member of our team.
Torchlit bug hunting: Have a look at the bugs on the reserve under our red light torches.
Night time camera footage: Ever wonder what our wildlife gets up to after dark? Watch footage from our trail cameras that have been put up around the dark.

The cafe on site will be open for the event with hot drinks and cake! (The shop and cafe will be open from 6.30pm onwards)

No need to book, just turn up on the night.
* This is a self led event around the reserve with wildlife guides and activities at certain positions around the blue trail
About the Venue
Lackford Lakes is a wildlife oasis with a landscape of lakes, reeds, meadow and woodland, just 10 minutes outside Bury St Edmunds.
There is wildlife in close-up all year round, with iridescent kingfisher, dazzling dragonflies and colourful ducks. There is always something going on at Lackford Lakes for you and your family to get involved in; from bug hunting to pond dipping!

Guide dogs only. Other dogs on a lead permitted on red trail only.

Reserve and car park open daily 9am - 5pm.
Toilets open 10am to 5pm
Catering open 10am to 4pm
The shop is open from 10am to 5pm

The reserve is FREE to visit, however please consider making a donation to Suffolk Wildlife Trust or becoming a member to support their work.
