Proclamation and Medals Ceremony

The Suffolk Day proclamation and presentations of Suffolk Medals at The Athenaeum!

About this event

Join us for a special Suffolk Day celebration in the heart of Bury St Edmunds on Sunday 21 June!

Hear a unique Suffolk Day proclamation, specially written for this year’s occasion, as it is proudly delivered from the balcony of The Athenaeum by students from Abbeygate Sixth Form. This inspiring piece reflects the spirit, hopes, and pride of both the town and the wider county of Suffolk.

Following the proclamation, stay with us for the prestigious Suffolk Medal presentations at 5:15pm, hosted by radio presenter and Suffolk Day founder Mark Murphy.

Established in 2018 by George Vestey, the Suffolk Medal honours individuals who have made an outstanding and lasting impact on life in Suffolk. Each medal is presented by the Lord-Lieutenant of Suffolk and beautifully designed by renowned artist Maggi Hambling.

Be part of this proud community moment—join us outside The Athenaeum at 5pm and soak up the atmosphere!
