About this event
This Bank Holiday, step back in time at West Stow and discover the legendary 95th Rifles, heroes of the Peninsular War and Waterloo. Learn how their Baker rifles helped Wellington’s army triumph over Napoleon.
Talk to a ‘chosen man,’ meet one of the famous green jackets, or see a Baker rifle in action. Drill and firing displays bring history to life, showing how these soldiers lived, trained, and fought.
The 95th Rifles are one of Wellington’s most celebrated regiments, celebrated in both history and popular culture—featured in Bernard Cornwell’s ‘Sharpe’ novels and the iconic television series starring Sean Bean.
Experience the daily lives of soldiers and camp followers during the Napoleonic Wars. From dramatic skirmishes to firing flintlock rifles using authentic Brandon flints, everything is recreated with historical accuracy, giving you a true taste of life in a Napoleonic encampment.
