De Vere House B&B
About this Business
This highly acclaimed former 5 star self catering and bed and breakfast accommodation (awarded a Gold Award in 2010 by Visit Britain) offers stunning facilities in the heart of Suffolk countryside.
Lavenham is reputedly Britain’s finest medieval village (with over 300 grade listed heritage properties and appearing as Godric’s Hollow in the Harry Potter films). De Vere House is located in the centre of this pretty village (just 20 minutes from Bury St Edmunds) and itself offers a wealth of history and interest as well as comfortable accommodation.
Two four poster bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, TV, wifi internet access, private guest sitting room with log fire and courtyard garden, full English breakfast (taken in the Dining Room of the main house). Not suitable for pets, children or the disabled due to the age and layout of the house.
De Vere House appeared as parts of Godric’s Hollow in the Harry Potter film Deathly Hallows Part One (and in the PSP, Gameboy and Xbox games of the film) also being used in two of the official Christmas Cards produced by Warner Bros. In the filming of Harry Potter, different parts of De Vere House were cut and paste to make up the whole of Godric’s Hollow. Filmed during the summer, the special effects team added winter snow (even pasting a Christmas tree into De Vere House's front bay window together with the sound of Christmas carols in the background)
The house is often referred to as “The Harry Potter House” by locals, in the media and a huge picture of the front door can be seen at the Warner Bros’ Exhibition on the making of Harry Potter and in the Village Library.
