About this Business

Suffolk Owl Sanctuary centre is home to over 90 resident owls and other birds of prey; falcons, hawks, eagles, vultures, caracaras and a huge variety of owls, both British native and exotic.

As well as observing them at rest in a variety of naturalistic environments, visitors are able to experience many of the birds in close proximity as they fly free in two wonderful demonstrations daily.

The Woodland Walk at S.O.S. is the home of Meerkat Kastle where our entertaining mob is fed twice daily at sessions enriched by an informative talk by the animals’ keeper. The walk also includes ladybird houses, a bug hotel, butterfly feeders, a wildlife pond and our shy red squirrel colony.

Respite from scheduled activities is offered in the peaceful, centrally located garden in which plenty of picnic space can be found - wheelchair-friendly tables are provided.

Every child is invited to complete the S.O.S. Safari Trail. This leads them through the sanctuary’s highlights via wildlife-related quizzes and activities - each child receives a prize on completion.

The Sanctuary’s bird of prey community sits squarely within an educational context of wide-ranging conservation awareness and raptor-specific concerns; both these elements of the Sanctuary’s work are illuminated by a wide spectrum of outreach initiatives involving schools, colleges, home educators, clubs, families and individuals.

Our Education Officer is happy to take her knowledge to both primary and secondary schools who alternatively are welcome to visit the Sanctuary for a day packed full of raptor facts and activities.

Online workshops are also available for groups remote from the centre - themes for all sessions include All About Owls, British habitats, raptor conservation, nocturnal animals and animal storytime.

Visitors continue to select the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary as a destination for special celebrations, such as birthdays and anniversaries. Children’s parties can be organised within a designated area, complete with a party host and owl-themed fun and goody bags! Visit www.owl-help.org.uk for details.
