A wide and varied selection of original handmade work by both regular and guest artists: original prints, textiles, glass, paintings, silver and gemstone jewellery, together with greetings cards and gift wrap - the perfect place to find unique pieces in the heart of the town.

The Handmade Shop & Gallery is a collective group of talented East Anglian designer-makers.

The gallery is managed and staffed by the makers who share the day-to-day running and costs of the gallery.

When you make a purchase from us the money goes to the person who actually produced your item.

You can be sure that you are truly supporting local independent makers and your local economy whilst purchasing something beautiful and unique.

The Gallery was opened in 2016 and is jointly owned and managed by Designer & Illustrator, Jane Crick & Silversmith, Shelley Watts.

Alongside their amazing team of volunteers - you will always find someone who actually made something inside the shop sitting behind the desk to welcome you - usually busily working on their current project!

Acting as Agents for over 40 different artists, complemented by a Guest Artist each month, work is updated regularly to reflect the seasons so there's always something new and exciting to see, with many items inspired by East Anglia and Bury St Edmunds.

St John's Street is a vibrant street full of welcoming independent shop and cafes - it's the perfect spot to spend the day discovering your new favourite shops and places to eat and drink!
