About this Business

A truly unique venue in Suffolk’s most diverse country park. A fully refurbished, unique and original Victorian railway goods shed set in the grounds of a 12th century motte and bailey castle, The Old Goods Shed is the ideal venue to host a memorable and exciting event. With modern facilities that include a fully fitted kitchen, Wi-Fi and projector, craft hand wash area and disabled access to all areas of the building, The Old Goods Shed provides the ideal backdrop for a range of events and celebrations. Whether it’s a Christmas party, keeping the children busy in the holiday or a family gathering, you will be surrounded by the Park’s beautiful natural spaces, woodlands and river walks. The Platform One café is in the old station bookings hall nearby as are the Park’s play areas and historic sites within the Medieval town of Clare. You will find multiple exhibition spaces inside The Old Goods Shed. On the lower level is a gallery with flexible hanging space and the mezzanine level boasts a bright open area that can be divided up using our moveable exhibition boards. With an adjacent car park and wheelchair access to and within the building, The Old Goods Shed can accommodate up to 90 visitors. “The Old Goods Shed is a versatile space which worked very well for our end-on theatrical performance and for our more intimate storytelling events. There are plenty of in-built options for lighting the space and it works well in different seating configurations. For a lovely clean, new space it did not feel sterile and it was easy to create an atmosphere suitable for performance. The venue team were fantastic to work with. We will be back!” - Mark Hayward, The Pantaloons Theatre CompanyTo organise a viewing and for more information on how to book please visit our website https://clarecastlecountrypark.co.uk/old-goods-shed-venue-hire/ or contact the Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager, Natalie Tarling, at volunteer@clarecastlecountrypark.co.uk
