The Secret Distillery

Established in 2018 by Karen and Martyn Luke, Heart of Suffolk Distillery is a family-owned venture based in Bacton, near Stowmarket.
We specialise in creating artisan London Dry Gins. Our signature gins include Betty's, an award-winning gin with orange, pepper and aniseed notes; Rosie's, a light summery gin with floral undertones; and Ivy's which boasts winter spices and recently received the accolade of Best London Dry Gin, Judges’ Choice from The Gin To My Tonic Awards. We also craft limited edition liqueurs and other artisan spirits including Suffolk’s first Amaretto.

In April 2022, their son Ryan took on a pivotal role in the company, bringing fresh energy and ideas. In May 2023, Ryan welcomed a new business partner, Tom Mills to the team, a local entrepreneur passionate about small business.

Since the change in the ownership, the distillery has gone from strength to strength not only producing exceptional gins & spirits, but also offering other local products to promote the great Suffolk food & drink scene. We also offer versatile event/meeting spaces, and the popular Langams Wine Bar in Stowmarket. Committed to community, Heart of Suffolk Distillery actively seeks collaborations, offers contract distilling services and supports local businesses.

The Secret Distillery is a true passion project of Ryan, Tom & our Bar Manager Amy. Occupying a modern ‘speakeasy venue’ in the centre of Bury St Edmunds allows the Heart of Suffolk Distillery to bring their blend of artisan spirits and passion for local drinks to the town through a meticulously curated menu. This new venue will boast an ever changing cocktail offering, a relaxed atmosphere and an opportunity to appreciate the best of what Suffolk has to offer.
