About this Business
Vespers is a specialty Belgian beer bar situated in the heart of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. We serve a vast selection of Belgian beers ranging from easy drinking blonde beers to historic Trappist ales and even complex Lambic Gueuze beers. There’s a beer for everyone!
With 15 draught taps and over 50 bottled beers, Vespers is a truly great Belgian beer experience. We look forward to welcoming you to our venue. Perhaps just for a quick, refreshing drink or an evening with friends and family to sample some of the best beers in the world.
Vespers Belgian beer bar is situated in an 18th century stable house, set across two floors. The downstairs bar offers a small but efficient served area with a limited amount of seating. The perfect space for a quick post-work drink and communal area to enjoy your favourite tipple with fellow beer lovers.
Our large upstairs seating area really shows off the atmospheric old stable house, with high ceilings and exposed wooden rafters. An eye-opening example of traditional British beauty whilst creating a monastic feel. Allowing you to sit back, relax, flick through the menu and enjoy the wide range of beers Vespers offers. In the upstairs seating area, we provide table service by knowledgeable staff who are able to answer any questions or guide you towards your preferred style. Perhaps you may want to try something new to enjoy? Here at Vespers we are a totally independent bar so we offer a highly changeable range of beers and offer something different for every new visit.
Vespers is located on St Andrews South in the heart of Bury St Edmunds. And just a 10 minute walk along the cobbled streets of the Old Grid are the remains of the Benedictine Abbey, the 14th-century Abbeygate and the famous Norman Tower situated in the picturesque Abbey Gardens. We have drawn our inspiration from this, as well as the legendary Abbeys from across Belgium and The Netherlands, famous for their Trappist ales. The St Edmundsbury Cathedral recently hosted the annual East Anglian Beer Festival and with major national brewery Greene King as well as smaller, independent breweries based in Bury St Edmunds, the town has always been associated with the tradition of brewing great beers. Now Vespers is here to provide customers with an extensive range of Belgian, Continental as well as locally brewed beers; something that most pubs and bars are unable to offer.
