About this event
In an ever-evolving Bury St Edmunds festive tradition, the Chris Ingham Quintet featuring Joanna Eden (aka Jazz At The Movies), returns to The Apex with their stocking-full of 20th century holiday classics and curiosities, rated as “sublime seasonal jazz” by BBC Radio.
A Swinging Christmas is the perfect show to begin the festivities with its customary irreverence, poignancy and joy in equal measure. Jazz Journal magazine agreed, noting in a review that “this first-class band had a ball… and so did the audience!"
Hosted by pianist Chris Ingham, the curator of Bury’s legendary Jazz at the Hunter Club, A Swinging Christmas features Joanna Eden, acclaimed chanteuse and longtime mentor to global superstar Sam Smith. The band is completed by the prodigious talent that is local musical hero Harry Greene on saxophone and guitar, along with one of the UK’s finest bassists Joe Pettitt and Suffolk-based drum hero, crooner and matinee idol George Double.
“One of the finest combos in the country and a seriously talented vocalist” - Jazz Journal

It has been very well publicised (and we never tire of hearing it!) that, as well as its architectural beauty, The Apex also has the very best acoustics, with many musicians who've played here describing it as the best acoustic in the UK, if not Europe:
