About this event

The team have the pleasure of presenting a talk by a book specialist in honour of our recent acquisition of Tryal of Witches Held At the Assizes Held at Bury St. Edmunds for the County of Suffolk; on the Tenth Day of March, 1664 (1716 edition)

Turn the pages of the legal history of witches from the Malleus Maleficarum (1489) to A Tryal of Witches (1716). Behold the recent acquisition as well as 4 other notable books with your own eyes for one night only! Discover the important individuals who pushed for or against the persecution of those accused of witchcraft.

Uncover the unforeseen influence of Matthew Hale’s legal decisions and how the documented witch trials helped continue belief in witchcraft.
