About this event
This event is an amazing six weekends celebrating some of the best artisan crafts from across the country. The Barn is filled with makers’ stalls, selling their own high-quality items directly to visitors. We are proud to have been showcasing arts and crafts, as part of Christmas at Blackthorpe Barn, for over 30 years.
Meet the Makers
Each maker is carefully selected to provide the ultimate eclectic mix of pieces to enjoy. One strict criterion when exhibiting at the Barn is that the makers themselves must be present and available for all visitors to meet them and chat about the inspiration behind their wonderful creations.
This year there are many new makers alongside some popular regulars, each with intriguing pieces for sale. The mix of makers changes each weekend, so there is always something new to see each time you visit.

About the Venue
Blackthorpe Barn is an old medieval threshing barn, but these days the Barn and surrounding buildings are used for events including the festive Country Christmas shop, selling a wide range of Christmas decorations and gifts, and the Arts & Crafts fair at Christmas, as well as other events, the Roots Café, craft workshops and art exhibitions during the year. It is also used to host beautiful weddings during the summer months.
We are part of the Rougham Estate which grows sunflowers and pumpkins and runs events in the summer and autumn.See the events calendar for day-to-day information, or follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see what’s on.
The Blackthorpe Barn was built around 1550, probably by John Drury who had just acquired the Manor of Rougham through the dissolution of the Great Benedictine Abbey at Bury St Edmunds in 1539.
