About the Venue
There is a vibrant and bustling market in Bury St Edmunds on Wednesdays and Saturdays that attracts thousands of people every week.
Bury St Edmunds has hosted a market since King John granted a charter in 1202, making it one of the oldest in the country. Over centuries it evolved from provisions, corn, livestock, and fish markets to today's vibrant street market.
With more than 70 regular stalls on Saturdays and 50 on Wednesdays, Bury St Edmunds Market has an excellent food offer including fruit and vegetables, meat, and fish stalls with fresh locally sourced seasonal produce.
Not only is there a wonderful array of foods you can also find everything from authentic Italian shirts, Portuguese pottery, vintage clothes and colourful plants and flowers.
Foodies will also love the market with its wonderful selection of food and drink from around the world.
The town is at its busiest on market days with coaches from all over East Anglia arriving particularly during the summer months.
There is also a regular monthly makers market on the 1st Sunday of every month from March to December which feature 80+ stalls selling a wide range of quality gifts and crafts such as fine art, woodcraft, needlecraft, jewellery, homewares and clothing, as well as locally produced food and drink.
