About this event

Get ready for the start of the festive season with Bury St Edmunds Christmas Lights Event on Thursday, November 20th, from 3pm to 8pm.

This year the date coincides with St Edmund's Day. Bury St Edmunds takes its name from King Edmund, the original Patron Saint of England and King of East Anglia, whose shrine at the Abbey of St Edmund was once one of England's most famous and wealthy pilgrimage sites. To mark the significance of this day there will be a FREE children's craft activity with an opportunity to take a photo with Saint Edmund and his wolf.

The magical transformation will begin when the sun sets, and there will be a variety of charity, craft, and gift stalls along Cornhill and the Buttermarket. We will also have various FREE street entertainment available, along with fairground rides and live stage performances by local schools and artists.

The Bury St Edmunds Christmas Lights Event is brought to you by Our Bury St Edmunds Business Improvement District and supported by ShopSafe.

More details for this event will be announced soon.
