Delve into the weird and wonderful stories behind the often-unnoticed sights in Bury St Edmunds!
This tour will have an eye for detail and reveal the names and meanings behind spandrels, designs in walls and where to find the signs of the Zodiac. ‘Have You Noticed?’ will even introduce you to a painted angel and its apocryphal story!
The ‘Have You Noticed?’ tour around the town will start at Angel Hill, opposite the Abbey Gate (what3words///doubt.display.trail) at 2pm and last around 90 minutes. The tour is in English and is suitable for all ages and abilities.
Please let us know beforehand if you have any special access requirements. We regret that we cannot accept dogs (apart from assistance dogs) on our tours.

Tickets must be booked online in advance. Your guide will be waiting on Angel Hill wearing a green Bury Tour Guides top.
This tour supports the fundraising campaign by Arc for the charity ‘My Wish’. All proceeds from the tour on 29 August will be passed to this charity.
A maximum of 20 people will be able to book in advance online at a cost of £10 per person (on this occasion, the cost of £10 will apply to each person; there will be no discounts) – those wishing to make additional donations on the day to My Wish will be able to do so. It will not be possible to join the tour on the day if you have not booked online.

The history of Bury St Edmunds stretches back over a thousand years starting with the martyrdom of Edmund, Anglo Saxon King and the original Patron Saint of England. Later came the establishment of the Benedictine Abbey dedicated to St Edmund, which became a major focus of pilgrimage in the Middle Ages. With Medieval, Georgian and Norman architecture, a visit to Bury St Edmunds is like taking a trip through time.
Between April and October guided walking tours of Historic Bury St Edmunds (90 minutes) run daily at 11am.
