Weird & Wonderful Wood 2025

Weird and Wonderful Wood is a friendly, relaxed and extraordinary event, with something for all the family.

With over 130 stalls and demonstrations, promoting wood and all it’s traditional uses, Weird and Wonderful Wood combines a celebration of wood – man’s oldest resource – with two days of free children’s workshops, walkabout entertainment, shows and spontaneous happenings around the site.

Expect to see beautiful and unique hand crafted objects, and try your hand at heritage crafts. Alongside this celebration of wood we have an incredible feast of street theatre and performers from all around the UK and beyond. Wandering the site you will meet Zelda the giant tortoise, stunning stiltwalkers, surprising flower pots (don’t get too close!) a giant walking viking made entirely of willow, be amazed by the Flea Circus, and a giant Sloth and her baby will want to have a hug – or maybe even steal your hat! Watch out for wandering musicians, dancers and even a mechanical dragon.

On the stage this year we have the incredible Old Time Sailors bringing a shanty party to Haughley Park. This footstomping and exuberant crew will sail into the event on Sunday. On Saturday we have another visit from Mark Chadwick of The Levellers, back by popular demand, with a mixture of his solo material as well as Leveller classics. Get ready to dance!

For kids every single activity at Weird and Wonderful Wood is free, so they can do as much as they like! There are free workshops including woodcarving, drumming, spoke shave, hula hoop, willow, clay, scrap wood, archery, axe throwing, aerial silks, Monkey Do tree climbing and circus skills.

Once you are at the event all our workshops and activities are free.
