Catch The Wonderful Wizard of Oz this summer!
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz has arrived at Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds! This classic story by Frank L. Baum, adapted by Mike Akers, is packed with singing, dancing and lots of giggles for families to enjoy this summer.
Theatre Royal’s annual summer production is the perfect way for families to enjoy live performance. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is the latest in-house show to be created by award-nominated producing house, Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds. Audiences will see their favourite characters (Lion, Scarecrow, Munchkins and more) come to life on stage in a show that’s full of hope, friendship and love. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is set in Suffolk (Stowmarket to be precise) and follows Dorothy and her dog Toto on their journey home after the pair are sucked into a cyclone and dropped in the mystical Land of Oz. Packed with ’80s-influenced songs by David Lewington and popping choreography by Sunny Saini, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz delivers a whole heap of feel-good for families' final weeks of summer.
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is co-directed by Owen Calvert-Lyons, Theatre Royal’s Artistic Director, and David Whitney, Head of Creative Learning, and produced by Zoe Fox, Producer at Theatre Royal.
“We’re proud and excited to be creating The Wonderful Wizard of Oz adapted by Mike Akers, as our community production this summer. Following the success of The Secret Garden last year, the production of this much-loved story is made thanks to our Commissioning Circle.” – Owen Calvert-Lyons, Co-Director of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
