The Constitutional Club was opened on Friday the 6th April, 1888 by the Marquess of Bristol who was accompanied by Lord Francis Hervey MP for Bury St Edmunds and Lord Harris.
The Grand Opening of the Constitutional Club was reported in the Bury and Norwich Post and the Suffolk Standard in their editions on the 10th April, 1888.

The club hosts several events for members including Cheese and Wine evenings, trips to breweries, Hidden Gardens BBQ, Minden Day and Remembrance day hosting, Karaoke, pool competitions, snooker leagues.

The Constitutional Club is also the home of the 'Bury St Edmunds Spring and Winter Beer Festival' which boasts over 30 ales, ciders and craft beers and is featured on the Bury St Edmunds Ale Trail.
