A Tryal of Witches
A Tryal of Witches is a brand new play at Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds and asks what led to one of the most shocking witch trials in British history right here in Bury St Edmunds.
The trials in Bury St Edmunds was the first time women were convicted using spectral evidence - the belief that witches could be in two places at one time.
A new play with original music composed by the band, TRILLS.
Written by Tallulah Brown and directed by Owen Calvert-Lyons, Director of Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds.
Friday 7th - Saturday 22nd March.
Superstition: Strange Wonders and Curiosities Exhibition
To coincide with the Theatre's brand new play A Tryal of Witches, a new exhibition at Moyse's Hall Museum will focus on witchcraft and superstitions.
The exhibition, from February 15 – 6 April, will also feature some brand new local finds.

Bury St Edmunds Comedy Festival 2025
Enjoy 1 month of laugh out loud comedy in February 2025 in Bury St Edmunds!
Get ready for a month of rib-tickling fun and laughter when Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk hosts its Comedy Festival throughout February.
The full line-up has just been announced and features Jon Culshaw, Zoe Lyons, Matt Forde and others.
Star Wars Takeover Day!
This year's Sci-Fi & Action exhibition at Moyse's Hall Museum will be wrapping up with an out-of-this-world Star Wars takeover day on the final Saturday of the exhibition.
Saturday 1st February will be a galactic finale with exclusive Star Wars-themed activities including a visit from Michael Whiteley, the prop maker behind Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Roger Rabbit, Titanic and more. He’ll showcase the animatronic Tauntaun head of the iconic beast that Luke Skywalker rode across the snow in The Empire Strikes Back, and share stories from his iconic career.
In addition, Vader Raiders Costume Crew will be bringing the galaxy far, far away to life with their incredible character performances throughout the day; don't miss the chance to meet some of Star Wars' most beloved heroes and villains as they take up residence in the museum's galleries and click the 'Book now' button for Saturday 1 February, 2025.
Bury St Edmunds Food and Drink Festival 2025
Get ready for the return of the FREE entry Bury St Edmunds Food and Drink Festival, taking place in Suffolk’s Foodie Capital on Sunday, 24th August, and Monday, 25th August, 10am to 5pm.
Enjoy live food and drink demonstrations at the Stoves Cookery Theatre in Cornhill. Explore the Farmers’ Market on Angel Hill and indulge in a variety of delicious treats. Plus, don’t forget about the FREE entertainment for kids and adults to enjoy together.

East Anglian Beer and Cider Festival 2025
By kind permission of the Dean & Chapter, the East Anglian Beer & Cider Festival will again be held in the beautiful St Edmundsbury Cathedral in Bury St Edmunds during August 20 -25.
For six days, St Edmundsbury Cathedral, its cloisters and garth, will host over 250 real ales, 60 ciders, food stalls and come alive with a Sound Stage and full entertainment programme.

Ring Quest 2025
The Lord of the Rings themed family challenge is back at West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village and Country Park from Saturday 15 February to Sunday 23 February 2025.
The popular Lord of the Rings-themed family challenge is back for February half term, with a completely new Quest trail in the Park. Complete the Ring Quest and find the rings and runes to save Middle Earth
Visit the Ring Quest displays, the Hobbit Hole and Mirkwood where there are the huge spiders waiting for you. See the enormous dragon guarding its treasure.
Meet Halbarad the Ranger of the North, try your hand at archery. You may even meet a friendly Orc.

Dragon Fest 2025
For one weekend every year in June West Stow Anglo Saxon Village celebrates all things dragons at the annual Dragon Festival!
This popular family event has an array of Dragon themed performances and activities including walk about characters, puppet theatre, combat skill training, music and crafts to entertain the crowds.
From nest building, dancing and storytelling for the younger visitors to learning how to protect your dragons, drum workshops, holistic treatments and stalls, there is something for all ages.
Visitors are encouraged to explore the site and find out about the unique history of the Anglo-Saxon settlement plus the folklore and legends surrounding the ancient Great Wyrms.

The town's annual Spring Fayre takes place on the last May Bank Holiday weekend of the month on Sunday, May 25th, and Bank Holiday Monday, May 26th.

East Anglian Storytelling Festival 2025
Enter a world of stories – from travellers and farmers to giants and dragons see the spaces of The Food Museum in nearby Stowmarket come alive with stories as they celebrate the land through story.
Find out some of the hidden histories of the Museum, story walks through the trees and meadows, late night bat walks and even later night horror, with daytime fun including hands on workshops, puppets and treasure trails for children, music and dance. Craft stalls, open-mics and story rounds by the fire mean anyone can join in.
Immerse yourself in the picturesque surroundings of the museum grounds as you listen to stories passed down through generations in an ancient folk tradition that knows no age limit. From music and traditional dance to interactive sessions for families and tales from local communities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at the East Anglian Storytelling Festival from 30th May - 1st June 2025.
