Adrenalin Pumping Activities in Bury St Edmunds & Beyond
If you're craving a bit of action and excitement, book one of these adrenalin pumping activities during your visit to Bury St Edmunds & Beyond!
Off-Road Driving with Explore 4x4

If you’re looking for high-octane outdoor fun look no further than Explore 4x4; the driving and outdoor pursuit specialists. There are a whole range of exciting activities to get involved with, including skid pan driving, all sorts of driving instruction- including blindfolded, and even archery.
Test out your off-roading skills with some expert 4x4 instruction- the car seats 3 passengers so bring along some willing volunteers for the (bumpy!) ride. If this is a little too far out of your comfort zone, there is also the option of clay pigeon shooting, archery and the chance to try your hand at using historical weaponry.
Cycling at National Trust Ickworth

A day exploring the beautiful gardens and parkland at National Trust Ickworth is a great way to discover the Suffolk countryside whilst getting the heart pumping!
Ideal for families, the 2.9 mile Ickworth River Linnet cycle route follows the new multi-use track to begin with, taking you past Ickworth Lodge and along the River Linnet and up past the Walled Garden and St. Mary’s Church.
For the more active amongst you, the Ickworth Monument Trail is a moderate 6 mile circular route which takes to the monument at the southern end of the park at Ickworth. Along the route you will pass Parson's pond, Albana Wood, the walled garden, canal lake, family church and Fairy lake at Ickworth.
Aerial High Ropes at Go Ape

Take a look at the world from a wildly different perspective at Go Ape outdoor activity centre in Thetford Forest. Get together with friends or family and test your mettle up in the treetops as you traverse a variety of fun obstacles in the aerial high ropes.
It’s a great way to bond as a family or work together as a team, encouraging each other along the way and finding out who has the best head for heights! Bring a flask and calm your nerves afterwards while you recount the day’s adventures.
Archery with Middle Earth Adventures

Lord of the rings fans won’t believe their eyes when they embark upon this fantasy adventure, and the opportunity to master the art of medieval longbow archery at Middle Earth Adventures.
Guided by a qualified archery instructor and middle earth enthusiast, you can get to grips with a longbow until your skills match the rangers of Ithilien. The session lasts 1hr and includes both target and distance shooting.
Enjoy a Spin at Curve Motion

Kids and adults alike will love a nostalgic day out at CurveMotion; a pioneering indoor interactive venue offering a great choice of activities for the whole family. Take to the roller rink with skating lessons for all ages, and even a roller disco!
Kids up to the age of 12 will enjoy burning off energy in the soft play area and play frame- the biggest in East Anglia, while bigger kids and adults can take a turn on the exhilarating mega slides and vertical drop slide. With a high quality bistro restaurant on site you can stay and play all day, stopping only for lunch.
So get your skates on (literally!) and get down to Curve Motion for a ‘great day out.
Cycling at Maglia Rosso

Maglia Rosso is the go-to place for cycling enthusiasts, with cycle hire as standard but so much more. The family run business offers cycle purchase and hire with expert advice on hand if needed, there is a shop stocking everything you need for cycling and even a Country Cafe with barista coffee, cakes, snacks, sandwiches and jackets potatoes to replenish your energy after your two-wheeled adventure.
The site boasts a mile long cyclocross training course with technical challenges to test your skills and endurance and even offers free ‘en masse’ ride outs twice a week with owner Barry. If you want to make your stay a longer one, book a weekend in one of the fantastic wigwam holiday cabins in the adjacent meadow with a south facing veranda and cosy interior.
Explore Suffolk's Countryside with Eezybike

You don't even need to load up your bike rack to enjoy cycling around the Suffolk countryside, as Eezybikes have a range of solar and electric bikes to hire from their base at All Saints Hotel. From here you can head back into the town, exploring Bury St Edmunds' historic cobbled streets and beautiful Abbey Gardens (stopping for lunch and coffee at one of the many cafes of course). Or if you prefer a more rural route, explore the trails Nowton Park, National Trust Ickworth or go off road with a day whizzing through King's Forest.
